How to Vote in Greenwich: Your Voting Options and Key Deadlines

Election season is here, and you might be thinking: “I want to vote, but when? Where? And how does this actually work?”

The good news? Voting in Greenwich is straightforward if you know your options. You can vote early, request an absentee ballot, or stick with the classic and vote in-person on Election Day. Either way, we’re going to walk you through all of your options, the key deadlines you need to know, and how to make a plan that fits in your real life.

Step 1: Check Your Registration

Before anything else, confirm that you’re registered and that your information is up to date.

  • Moved recently? Update your address.

  • Changed your name? Update your record.

  • Unsure if you’re registered? Double check online.

This step takes less than two minutes and it ensures you’ll be ready to vote without any hiccups.

Step 2: Know Your Voting Options

In Greenwich, you typically have several ways to vote. Pick whichever works best for your schedule and lifestyle:

  1. In-Person on Election Day

    • Head to your assigned polling location in Greenwich.

    • Polls are generally open from 6am and 8pm.

    • Find your polling place

  2. Early Voting

    • For recent elections, Connecticut has offered early voting opportunities.

    • This gives you flexibility to vote before Election Day

    • Location: Greenwich Town Hall

    • Dates: Oct 20 - Nov 2 (Including weekends)

  3. Absentee Ballot (Vote by Mail or Ballot Drop Box)

    • If you can’t make it in person, you may be eligible to vote absentee.

    • You’ll need to apply for a ballot, receive it by mail, and return it by 8pm on November 4.

    • To return your absentee, mail it back or drop in an official ballot drop box

    • The three official ballot drop boxes can be found in the Greenwich Town Hall lobby, by the Greenwich Town Hall visitor parking lot, and in the Public Safety Complex lobby.

    • Absentee ballot application

Step 3: Mark the Key Deadlines

Deadlines are crucial. Missing one can mean missing your chance to vote.

  • Voter registration deadline: Oct 17 for mail in, in-person, and online registration + Same day registration at the polls

  • Absentee ballot return deadline: Nov 4

  • Early voting period: Oct 20 - Nov 2

  • Election Day: Nov 4

👉 Pro tip: Add these dates to your phone calendar right now, with reminders a week before and the day before.

Step 4: Plan Your Vote

Life gets busy. Classes, work, commuting, parenting, it’s easy to let Election Day sneak up on you. That’s why making a plan matters.

Ask yourself:

  • When will I vote? Before work, during a lunch break, or after work?

  • Where is my polling place or early voting site?

  • How will I get there? Walk, drive, or carpool?

Make a plan and then block out the time like you would for any other important event.

Step 5: Share the Info

Once you’ve made your plan, spread the word.

  • Remind friends, coworkers, or family to check their registration.

  • Post key deadlines on your social media.

  • Offer to walk, drive, or carpool with a friend on Election Day.

Voting is powerful on your own, but even more powerful when you bring your community with you.
