Your Election Week Guide: What to Know Before You Vote

3 min read

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Whether you already have a plan or are still figuring out the details, election week is a good time to review your ballot, check your voting information, and make sure you know what to expect.

My Voting Power is here to help you feel informed and prepared. Here’s what to check before Election Day.

1. Know What’s on Your Ballot

This year’s general election includes races for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, the U.S. House of Representatives, the Connecticut State Senate, the Connecticut State House, and other statewide and local offices.

Greenwich is part of Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District and State Senate District 36.

Your State House race depends on your address. Greenwich includes portions of Districts 149, 150, and 151, and your address determines which district’s race appears on your ballot.

Start here: review your official sample ballot so you know which races apply to you and who is running.

2. Confirm Where and When to Vote

If you plan to vote in person on Election Day, check your assigned polling place before you go.

Your polling place is based on your address, so make sure you confirm yours ahead of time.

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026

Polling hours: 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Use the town’s official Voting Hours and Locations page to confirm your polling place and any other details before heading out.

3. Review Your Voting Options

There’s more than one way to cast your ballot. Review your options and choose the one that works for you.

Early Voting

Early Voting for the November 3 election runs from October 19 through November 1 at Greenwich Town Hall.

Regular hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with extended hours from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 27 and October 29.

Absentee Voting

If you are voting by absentee ballot, review the official instructions and deadlines carefully.

Make sure you understand how to complete and return your ballot and confirm that it has been received according to the applicable requirements.

Same Day Registration

Eligible residents who are not registered may be able to register and vote at the designated Same Day Registration location.

In Greenwich, Same Day Registration is available at Town Hall, including on Election Day.

Check the official town guidance for eligibility and instructions before you go.

For the latest details, visit the Town of Greenwich’s Voter Registration and Election Information page.

4. Know Who’s Running

Once you know which races are on your ballot, take a few minutes to learn about the candidates.

A good place to start:

  • What experience do they highlight?

  • Which issues have they identified as priorities?

  • What specific policies or proposals have they shared?

  • Where can you verify their positions and statements?

Start with original sources such as candidate websites, public statements, debate responses, and candidate questionnaires.

Use the same criteria when reviewing each candidate.

You do not need to know everything about every race. Start with the offices on your ballot and work from there.

5. Use This Election Week Checklist

Before Election Day, run through this quick checklist:

  • Review your official sample ballot.

  • Confirm your voter registration.

  • Confirm your polling place.

  • Decide when and how you plan to vote.

  • Review the candidates and races on your ballot.

  • Double-check official voting hours and instructions.

Keeping the details together can make your voting plan much simpler.

6. Get Your Information from Official Sources

Election information can change, so use official sources to confirm dates, locations, registration information, and voting requirements.
